Requirements for entering Morocco
Depending on which kind of citizenship you own you may not immediately need a stay permit. Should you decide to go on a Gap Year or sabbatical trip for a longer period of time you will need to obtain a stay permit that will remain valid for the entire length of your planned stay. In order to claim your stay permit on time you will need to apply for it at the local foreigner's police station within 21 days after having reached your destination. In order to complete your application you will need proof of finances and a certified reason for why a longer stay in the country will be required, among other documents. The local currency is called Dirham. There is a limit on how much money you are allowed to take into and out of the country and according to the website of the federal foreign agency this amount is roughly 1 thousand Durham. Due to the fact that the laws on the amount of money change frequently, we recommend that you consult the website of Moroccan customs for updates and further information.
It is also recommendable that you look your best and are dressed formally when beginning your trip as it is not uncommon for unkempt people to be denied entry into the country.
